I’m Charles Sainsbury-Plaice, a photographer specialising in British country life, trees and the environment, with a career that has also taken me around the world.

Over the past three decades, I have photographed for leading publications including The Field, Country Life, Fieldsports, Horse & Hound, Tatler and The Sunday Telegraph. My work spans country sports, polo, horse racing, food, farming and pets, alongside a particular interest in ancient trees, woodland and the relationship between people and the natural world.

I have worked with the Duchy of Cornwall and His Majesty The King, during his time as Prince of Wales, and currently work with the Duchy of Lancaster. I have also contributed photographs to books including England on Horseback, A Year for Discovery, Adam’s Farm and Harmony.

Trees and the environment are an important part of my photography. In 2022, I was one of two photographers chosen to photograph 70 ancient trees and 70 ancient woods for The Queen’s Green Canopy, commemorating the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

My photographic artworks have been exhibited at Sotheby’s in London, The King John in Tollard Royal, Daylesford, The Tree Art Gallery, The Sidney Nolan Trust and The Ridgebank Gallery, and more recently at the Natural History Museum as part of the COP30 preview.
